ROUND 1 OULTON 2nd APRIL
Season starts early with the 5club championship. A cold but dry OULTON PARK welcomed the MX5s out of their winter hibernation. A full awning of cars consisting of Marcus, Sam, Grant and Nigel would keep the boys busy. Marcus would be quickest after lots of winter testing and would see him having his strongest finishes to date. Something Brian is hoping to continue with him for the rest of season. Sam is in his first year so is just getting to grips with his MX5. They aren’t the easiest cars to drive with budget road tyres, plus a very strong field of respected racers. Grant and Nigel was also just shaking their cars down and blowing cobwebs out after not doing much track work over winter.
ROUND 2 BRANDS HATCH 23/24th APRIL
Brands Hatch would see the start of Sam really getting to grips with his car and racing. Fighting with Marcus for fastest man of the awning. Both having very strong top 15 finishes around the short fast track of Brands. Unfortunately the day would end again in disappointment in the dreaded paddock hill gravel trap. This time it snared Nigel on the opening lap. Grant was showing good pace and also would have strong top 15 finishes.
ROUND 4 SNETTERTON 26th JUNE
Three cars consisting of Sam, Marcus and Grant were our stars of Snetterton. All three of them recording their best finishes to date on a maximum grid of 42 cars. With Sam really starting to fly now and in the top six of the championship overall. Not bad at all for his first year racing an MX5. Marcus was to walk away with the master’s trophy (The highest place finisher over 45 years old). “We love trophies in our awning. Makes all the hard work worthwhile” Beams Brian.

ROUND 5 ANGLESEY 16/17th JULY
Back to Anglesey Wales we went again, our lorry is certainly clocking up some miles this season. This round would see our star Sam Tatler really shine. An unknown track to him meant a few hours going over some of Brian’s previous years race footage. This tactic really paid off as Sam would have his best races to date. Up into 3rd overall for a good length of the race, eventually finishing 5th. Marcus too was having solid top 10 performances and bringing back the masters trophy for the 2nd time.
CADWELL 6/7th JULY
The trickiest track of the calendar and our two stars, Sam and Marcus, were shining again. Again with no previous track time Sam was on a back foot, but solid top 10 pace would see him finish a very respectable 7th with Marcus biting at his heels just a couple of places behind.
Championship positions to date see Sam in an amazing 5th overall. Marcus sits in 13th. Grant is 21st but has missed some rounds and Nigel in 44th but has only raced once at brands out of a strong field of 50 drivers.
We are looking forward to the last three Rounds of the 750 Motorclub Championship at Silverstone, Rockingham and Donnington.
